After last week's post about how to decorate your own sunglasses, I set myself the challenge over the weekend of creating my own pair of DIY sunglasses… or two!

I originally planned to only decorate one pair of glasses – an old cheap pair I had lying around from a beach holiday a few years ago.  Over the weekend, however, I spotted a very cheap pair in a flea market, and decided to try to create two DIY sunglasses with two different styles.

The first pair, my old pair, are black, with wide plastic rims, and a silver design on the arms. I decided to make these the ‘blingy’ pair.

The decorations i used for this pair were very simple: some silver gems and a large fake flower.

First of all, I glued on the gems to the top rim of the glasses (a lot harder than it sounds!). Then I just added the flower to give them a bit more character.

The second pair of sunglasses, the ones I found in the flea market, are actually La Perla, but I managed to get them for only £2!  They have a transparent brown, thinner rim, paler shades, and a more vintage, natural look.

For this pair I used a combination of decorations: two small fake flowers; a flower, a heart and two blue leaf beads; green and pink gems.

After sticking on the fake flowers on each side, I added the beads and then the gems, in an asymmetrical way.

I tried to create two very different styles with my decorations, which I thought fitted with the original style of the sunglasses.  Firstly a 'blingy' pair using gems, and secondly a more natural, pretty vintage look with the small fake flowers and beads.  I hope you like my DIY sunglasses!  But if you still need more inspiration to dreate your own DIY sunglasses, have a look at these alternative ideas.

Here are a couple of photos that show my completed DIY sunglasses!
