Lenses
- What are the types of lenses you offer?
We offer single-vision distance glasses and single-vision reading glasses only. Please note that we do not currently offer progressive/varifocal/multifocal/bifocal lenses or lenses that include prism values. If you are unsure as to which type of lenses you need, we recommend getting in touch with your optician first, in order to confirm this with them.
- What qualities do the Blickers glasses have?
All lens orders filled by Blickers are made with lenses made from organic glass, which is the standard for most lenses used today. These lenses are known for their lightweight feel and exceptional durability, making them resistant to breakage. They are sourced from top manufacturers, such as Hoya (Japan) or Essilor (France). Our qualified opticians will choose the most suitable lenses for your lens selection.
- Can I order lenses without prescription values?
Yes, we offer custom lenses with no prescription values, which are great to wear as a fashion accessory. Simply click the “Add prescription lenses'' button, followed by the “Non-prescription lenses” button, to select this option.
- Can I order just a frame?
Yes and you can visit your local opticians to have lenses inserted into the frame. If you order just a frame, without adding any lenses, you will receive the frame with plastic placeholder lenses. Please note, in case you order a frame without adding any lenses, the frame will be shipped with plastic placeholder lenses. It is important to keep in mind that these lenses are meant to be demo lenses, and therefore wearing the frame with them is not advisable.
- What is my pupil distance?
Your pupil distance (PD) is the distance between your pupils, measured in millimetres. Should your prescription not include your PD, we highly recommend having it measured by your optician. In case you are unable to have it measured by an optician, some methods to measure the PD at home can be found online.
Choosing your glasses
- How can I find my ideal glasses?"
Feel free to apply a variety of filters on the explore page here. You will be able to choose between different brands, shapes, colours, etc.
- What if my glasses don’t fit?
If they do not fit, don’t worry, as orders can be returned within thirty days of delivery (with the exception of orders with custom/prescription lenses.)
- Will the glasses need adjusting?
Blickers ships glasses as well-adjusted as possible. In most cases, this is enough for them to fit perfectly once they arrive. However, depending on the shape of your face, nose or ears, further adjustments may be necessary, in order to make your glasses fit comfortably.
Adjustments are a good way to ensure that your glasses sit properly on your face and feel comfortable. This is not only important for comfort, but also for your eyesight. If the glasses do need adjusting, you can visit a local opticians store, so an optician can adjust them for you.
- Does my prescription affect which frame I should choose?
In general, any frame may work for almost any prescription. However, there are some additional recommendations to follow, in case you have a high prescription (over +-4 dioptres) we recommend choosing a thicker plastic or acetate frame.
- Allergies
- If you are allergic to nickel, choose a titanium or acetate frame. These materials won’t give you any trouble.
- For people with photophobia we recommend you choose sunglasses with polarized lenses and with a category 4 solar filter, the darkest option possible.
In any case, if you have any queries or need information regarding our materials, feel free to contact us through our email [contact@blickers.com], and we will be happy to assist you.
Types of Sunglasses lenses
- What are Polarised sunglasses?
Polarised lenses eliminate reflected light from surfaces. For example, at the beach, a normal pair of sunglasses would eliminate the light directly coming from the sun, but not the light reflected from the sea, sand or other surfaces. A pair of polarised sunglasses will eliminate both, and thereby provides a higher definition of contrast, eliminating reflections. This makes them ideal for driving, fishing, sailing and winter sports. You can find our polarised sunglasses here.
- What are Mirrored sunglasses?
Mirrored sunglasses have a reflective optical coating on the outside of the lenses giving them a mirror-like appearance. This effect also makes it hard to see the wearer's eyes. You can find our mirrored sunglasses here.
- What are Gradient sunglasses?
Gradient sunglasses have lenses that vary in transparency from top to bottom. These lenses usually have a tint that is darker at the top and gradually lightens from top to bottom. You can find our gradient sunglasses here.
- What are Photochromic sunglasses?
Photochromic lenses are optical lenses that darken when exposed to light of sufficiently high frequency, most commonly ultraviolet radiation. The lenses return to their clear state in the absence of activating light. Sunglasses with these lenses are perfect for when drying or being outdoors in unpredictable weather. You can find our photochromic sunglasses here.
