    • What lens colour is right for your glasses?
    Published on January 15, 2013

What lens colour is right for your glasses?

What will it be? Brown, yellow, green? Maybe orange?

    Interesting

Have you ever stopped to think whether or not you’re wearing the right glasses for your lifestyle? An what about the lens colour?

We don’t go rock climbing with the same shoes as we use for jogging, we use studded boots for football and few of us would consider going horse riding in flip flops … so why do we use the same glasses for everything? You know it’s wrong!

Personally, I like to wear the prettiest, most comfortable fashion glasses on every occasion but I’ve never stopped to consider the lens colour until I found out what the options were. Well, here they are!

    • Brown lenses: For outdoor sports. Suitable for those with myopia.
    • Green lenses: Especially for nautical sports and long-sightedness.
    • Yellow lenses: Perfect for foggy, cloudy or misty days as they increase contrast.
    • Grey/black lenses: Recommended for driving.
    • Orange lenses: Best for low light conditions, such as night driving or very foggy conditions, as they increase the contrast even more than yellow lenses.

So now we have other factors to take into consideration when we’re choosing glasses! If you still have doubts, any optician can provide you with personalised, professional advice about eyewear.
