The idea behind SHAUNS SHADES sunglasses is that customers can be part of a solution to address a social problem: lack of access to eye care in less developed countries, which affects more than 285 million people. A huge 77% of the cases can be solved simply with a pair of glasses.
So how does it work? The system "Give Sight" means that for every pair of SHAUNS SHADES glasses purchased, another pair of glasses is triggered into existence. With the help from the giving partners of SHAUNS SHADES, an eye test is administered to a person in need (either due to their geographical location and lack of access to affordable eye health, or because of their low income). The patient is then fitted with glasses and can enjoy the simple pleasure of being able to see well, sometimes for the first time in their life.
The importance of the "Give Sight" system, is that, as the website states, "Visual impairment hampers performance at school, reduces employability and productivity, and generally lowers quality of life." Poor eyesight, for many people, can therefore mean a life of hardship and poverty, that can easily be avoided simply by having access to a pair of glasses. SHAUNS SHADES has so far donated five thousand glasses to people in need, and the commitment to it's pledge of giving sight is as strong as ever.
As well as the impressive social commitment, SHAUNS sunglasses are also incredible designs. The glasses from this Californian brand are made at the foot of the Alps, with high quality premium Italian acetate and Carl Zeiss lenses. What is also special about these glasses is that inside the end of the arms, on the left side is written 'Give', and on the right is written 'SIGHT'. Furthermore, the gold logo of three dots is the letter 'S' in Braille, which stands for Shauns, Shades, and Sight.
