'Nerd glasses' are essentially oversized reading glasses. Whereas once they were associated with bookworms, librarians, and nerds, today wearing bold reading glasses has become the latest cool, sexy and sophisticated look in the geek-chic trend.

Somewhat surprisingly, this latest look is very much a unisex style. Cool nerd glasses were originally associated with the classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer model - bold square frames. Since then, as the style has become increasingly popular, other designs are also common, but they share the same essential characteristics - nerd glasses usually have slightly oversized, bold, dark frames, but they can be either rounded or square.

This style has often been described as a 'vintage' style, and they are certainly reminiscent of the kinds of glasses worn by my grandparents (especially the ones with tortoiseshell frames). Today, however, this vintage style coupled with casual, modern clothes creates a sexy, sophisticated look on both men and women.
