Have you ever stared longingly at extravagant designer sunglasses, but not been able to justify forking out the cash for something you aren’t convinced you will get much wear out of? Why not buy a cheap pair and decorate your own sunglasses!

decorative sunglasses

I have noticed recently that a lot of designer sunglasses are decorated with flowers or jewels.  These might seem a bit flashy for every-day wear, but if you are feeling brave and want to make a statement, or if you are having a jeans and T-shirt day, they are a perfect way of adding some color and decoration to your outfit.  What’s more, if you decorate your own sunglasses, you are guaranteed to wear something completely unique that reflects your own style.

You don’t need to be overly creative to decorate your own sunglasses, and there are loads of different ways of doing it.  All you need to start with is a cheap or old pair or glasses (I’m sure I am not the only one who buys a cheap pair every time I go on a beach holiday).  My advice would be to go for a pair with plastic frames, and depending on what you choose to add, make sure they are wide enough.  Then all you need is some very strong glue (superglue or similar), and some decorative things that you might have lying around, or that you can easily find in craft shops.  Some of my favourite looks have ceramic flowers, fake flowers, jewels or pearls, but the great thing is you can use whatever you like!

A popular style for girls at the moment are flowery sunglasses, pioneered by Dolce and Gabbana.  Here is a link to an easy step-by-step guide in how to decorate your own sunglasses.
