Today I had the privilege of interviewing an expert in truly extravagant glasses, Assumpta Viladebo Marcó, founder of Dula Barcelona.
Assumpta has over 40 years experience in glasses and is the creator of “Dula Barcelona”, a brand name for super- cool, fun loving, audacious glasses in a thousand shapes and colours.
She explained that “dula”, in Catalan means to run free, with nobody controlling or watching you. It is usually used when kids head out to play in the villages in summer. Assumpta says that when you wear a pair of her glasses, you can feel that children’s sense of freedom. Now that’s a nice feeling, right?
All her glasses are handmade and crafted and, in addition, can be made to measure, meaning that if you like a particular frame but the colour is not for you, you can ask her to make a pair exclusively for you. For around 100€ you can either wear what everyone else is wearing, or put on a pair of glasses made exclusively for you. The choice is yours :)
I can’t say for sure that putting on a pair of Dula Barcelona glasses will transport you back to your childhood, what I can say is that Assumpta transmits positivity and charm by the ton… maybe it’s because she’s wearing a pair of her magic glasses!
